  • Price Match guarantee not honored

I was in the market for a power conditioner and found one at GuitarCenter.com for $189. Found the same exact one (not a return, B-stock, or refurb) for 106 but temporarily out of stock. Contacted GC regarding the price match guarantee on their website. They responded stating that they wouldn't match the price since it was out of stock at MF, even though this is NOT mentioned on their website. There is a sizable list of exceptions to the guarantee on the site but out of stock items are not mentioned. They then had the audacity to state that even if they were to match, they'd... More...

  • A year later and having issues again!

My last years issue was resovled by the manager of the Springfield Missouri Location. He was extremely cooperative. This time I called Le Mesa CA store talked to someone in guitars about a Martin DC-16RGTE used guitar listed at $600. I asked what it looked like, how it played and any structure issues and if the electronics worked. I figured it would have been rough at that price. The gentleman came back said oh, this is in great condition... Still has plastic on pickguard. It has just a couple little dings on it. I thought WoW I must buy it now. I went online and ordered and did next day... More...

  • Horrible service

I frequent GC often and have found you pretty much have to force your money on them.Trying to get help is like pulling teeth. Even when the store is empty and employees are just standing around. I have walked out numerous times with unspent money that I tried to spend and ended up purchasing from another retailer online. Oh and if you return something it takes DAYS to credit to your account. So in the meantime your out money and product. Not a very good feeling! More...

I called and went up to the store only to get the run around that the card had been sent. Have yet to receive It and at this point am very disappointed. I paid for the item in store and cash money. • Insulted And Treated With Disrespect

I'll try to make a long story short. I had been looking around for my first electric guitar and went to several places, including Guitar Center. During one visit, I spent probably 20-25 minutes with a particular sales person, trying out several electric guitars but not finding one that felt comfortable or was within my budget. I went back home to do more research and found one that had a slimmer neck and thought that might be the one I was looking for. I went on GC's website and found it new for $325.00. That was a little more than I wanted to spend because I still had other... More...

  • Guitar Center

Have dealt with them over many years. Not a single item in all that time, was I not able to readily buy at a lower price, asking any music equipment resource outlet. Some things are monopolized, but most things they sell (very limited equipment selection) You can get lower prices on from ANY independant dealer. They also NEVER have anything of substantial value, IN STOCK. Their standard replay is: No, but we can order that! No kidding? More...

  • GC Pro Coverage is costing me gigs due to OUTLANDISH turnaround time.

First of all, this review is not about GC employees at my local Florence, Ky store, they are awesome, especially Ron in Pro Audio. He consistently bends over backwards to help me and has given me TONS of free GREAT advice. My issue is with Pro Coverage. I purchased two Mackie Thump TH15a powered speakers to dj weddings with. In barely a year (and keeping a CLOSE eye on the overload lights) one speaker failed, then the other. When I purchased the Pro Coverage plan, I was promised a 7 to 10 day turnaround. It was a no brainer, the fact that power surges were covered sealed the deal for me.... More...

  • Where's my Guitar?

On February 14, 2012 I placed an order for a Taylor 2012 110 Dreadnought. The website stated it would be available February 20. I thought, I can wait a week, because I got a great deal with the discounts for that week. So after receiving no information, I called on February 21 to check on my order. I told the rep, what was going on and he was checking on it for me, I told him I had been waiting for 40 years to get a Taylor (meaning a good quality guitar). • Bait & switch and not honoring coupon

On Saturday, February 04, 2012 at the Louisville, KY Guitar Center (GC) I went to purchase the Mitchell MD 100S12 guitar that I found on their website. I have been looking at purchasing this guitar for some time now and what sent me over the edge so-to-speak is the advertisement on their website (February 03 & February 04) for 12% off of a single item $149 or more. I had to sign up for it and they emailed me the coupon. I bought a T-12 turntable 2 months ago. When delivered, it produced sound through only one channel, possibly something came loose in shipping, no big deal. Took it to the Mays Landing, NJ location. They looked it over, said they had to send it to a 3rd party for repairs, and it would be 2-3 weeks. 4 weeks later no wordcso I called, they claimed to check onbit and said another week or two. 6 weeks gone, I called again, Kev tells me, "I promise, I'll check and call you back today". Awful experience! Never going back. Needed 1 saddle for my guitar. They would only sell me a set of 6 for $60. They told me a novice could probably install new saddles in an afternoon, but I was feeling lazy, so I had them do it. They charged $20 for that and said it'd take 2 days. I called in 2 days, had to leave a message, never got called back. I called the next morning, same routine. I called that afternoon, had to leave a message, finally got called back only to hear they hadn't started. They said it'd be done later that afternoon (if they weren't busy) or... More...

  • Never Again

I will never ever shop at a Guitar Center ever again. The people at the one in Rancho Cucamonga, CA have no idea whatsoever about even tuning a guitar. I got an APX700II 12 string guitar that had to be ordered. It got back-ordered so I waited, which is fine. It came in today, after a month so I went to pick it up. The man talked for 15 minutes about how much he hates 12-strings and then took about a half hour to tune my guitar wrong. We had to BUY batteries at a grossly inflated price to even hear my guitar plugged in. After we liked the guitar, We tried the case that had been recommended... More...

  • Dont buy pro grear warranty

Bought the "replacement warranty". My amp went belly up, took it to Guitar center in west little rock, and was informed that i had to send it to the manufacture. If thats the "replacement" then I could have sent the amp to the manufacture myself and save the money on the REPLACEMENT provision that guitar center prides themselves in selling. I thought buying the replacement insurance meant that they replace bad products, it does not. So replacement to guitar center does not mean what it does in the dictionary or what it means to other replacement warranties i have... More...

I purchased the replacement Pro Coverage on an acoustic guitar and was told that the guitar would be replaced even if it was accidentally broken. After reviewing the coverage brochure it was clear that this was not the case. I also spoke with the customer service rep at the Pro Coverage office and she confirmed that his indeed was he case. I received this dumb postcard in the mail from Guitar Center advertising some big BLOWOUT SALE on Jan. 17th with phrases to the extent of "81% off! Went into the Guitar Center in Langhorne, PA to check out some new keyboards. Chris, one of the sales associates, went out of his way to disconnect the two that I was interested in from various displays and hook them up so I could try them out. Customer service is terrible. Every time I go to the one in langhorne PA I walk out angry. Last time I was there I wanted to sell two guitars and an amp. I even called to make sure they would take a look. I go to the guitar department and the guy says "ok wait 5 minutes I'm helping a customer" I stand there for about 45 mins while every person who walks in gets help. It's now almost an hour later and The sales person is now helping a different customer. I walked out with my stuff. Management needs to start stepping up and realize what disrespectful idiots they have working for them. I had problems years ago so I figured maybe now they would have some kind of decent people working there. I was wrong. Never shopping there again

GC in Monroeville, PA sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! First, get some training on the gear you sell. Second, get some customer skills, (be human treat people with respect and maybe we'll spend our money their). Third, quit being the Walmart of music gear, (quit pulling the bait and switch on customers). Lastly, hire people who actually play instruments to sell them.
I can't stress enough that GC is the worst place I've ever had the dis-pleasure of doing business with. Pro-audio recording room, where they have speakers hooked up but you can't listen to them to see the differences in response to make a decision as to what to buy. Keyboard department, do they actually have anyone at any of the stores that know about the professional line of boards or are they all the loopers who use the 49 key USB interfaced ones for their home studio.

Anyway, never dealing with them again, I will buy from American Music or Sam Ash in the future for all purchases.

Guitar Center of North Attleboro, Ma claim they can't find one MusicMan bass case: 20+ lies, 5 Weeks? For one guitar case? http://guitar-center-reviews.measuredup.com/3802

Your lies constitute consumer fraud. Thanks for the audit trail of evidence that I will use to sue Guitar Center.

As a former GC employee, take it from me as a consistently top producer, GC sucks on many levels! They are the WALMART of music stores. They have virtually destroyed most of the family owned stores intentionally. The typical corporate mentality in every regard, especially towards their employees. which they treat like crap and expect way too much for too little in return. Total incompetent, uncaring, no people skills managers. Revolving door employee mentality. They know every kid would love to work there, so minimum wage never changes, no raises, incentives period,(They actually decreased commission rates recently) regardless of tenure, experience and dedicated hard work. Check out the class-action lawsuit they offered to settle for 3.1 million dollars for not paying due wages to their already starving, underpaid employee's. Very click orientated, must kiss the lame managers butt, or be outed, regardless of performance. As far as the customers...They will "steal" your used gear for trade, very misleading (bordering illegal) deceptive advertising. I could go-on-and forever. BTW this also applies to Musicians Friend, also Guitar Center! DO yourself and Community a favor...Please if at all possible buy from your local (or drive a little) family store, in most cases you get just as good or better of a deal, and better service and your money will be better invested!

had been looking for a classic old Sigma for a while saw one at guitar center in Buffalo NY online for 399.00 not a bad price but them they charged me shipping and tax from another state and told me because they had a guitar center in my city they had to charge tax, I looked into that and was told by a lawyer the only way they should charge tax is if the guitar was being shipped to that store, not to my home but they did it anyway and would not refund my shipping or tax, they are greedy rip-offs be very careful buying from these guys, from reading reviews I see I am not the only one that has been ripped off by them, they are also affiliates with musicians friend and music123 as well as several others, so take it as you will these guys SUCK

Greetings, (Store in Keizer Station, Keizer Oregon)

I would like to start out by telling you how excited I was when I heard guitar center was coming to Keizer. My friends and I had recently started a band, and were looking for new equipment as we all played acoustic at the time. My first trip to Guitar Center I purchased a left handed guitar at a great price. I had the nut on the guitar turned around as I do not swap my strings as most left handers do.

The technician finished restringing my guitar and I took it to the counter to pay for it. Paying for it was my first bad experience, as I was told they needed my email, home address, phone number etc when all I wanted to do was pay and get home to play. Once I got home I found that the stings on my guitar were vibrating at the nut, so back to guitar center I went. The technician fixed the problem, however a week later I ran into the same issue and had to take it back a second time. (I live in South Salem, this isn't a drive up the block.)

During this visit my fiend and I picked out two in stock amp and head units. The sales person retrieved the equipment from the back stock room. I told him we were ready to check out to which he replied, “ok I have to go help this customer really quick I’ll be right back.” ten minutes or so goes by and I see him ringing up a customer at the counter with two other customers behind him. He looks at me and says “oh, I’m sorry do you mind if I help these customers real quick” to which I replied, ‘well I was already in line, if fact I was first.’ Now normally I am a patient customer as I work in Loss Prevention for a large retailer, and understand that customers can overreact in certain situations, but this was getting ridiculous. It took over a half hour from the time I told him I was ready to check out, to the time I was actually checked out.

We get home and realize we forgot to get a few things so we head back to Guitar Center. I’m looking at some merchandise and I turn around to see my fiancé trying to purchase a diet Pepsi at the counter. I can tell she is irritated, so I walk over to see what the issue was. Your cashier explains that he needs her email address and phone number to which I reply “she’s just buying a Pepsi” to which he replies, “there is nothing I can do about it I can’t skip it.” I see that his name badge shows that he is a new employee so I cut him some slack. I tell him there has to be a way to skip it, and that my fiancé is not handing out her information for a Pepsi. The employee calls for some assistance and the issue is resolved. But again, another bad experience.

Some time passes and our band gets booked at a local bar, but realize we need a PA system along with some other equipment which totaled around $800,00. We find a package online and go to the store to see if they have the merchandise in stock to put the kit together. We are greeted by the store manager who tells us he does not have the same speaker stands that come with the kit. We tell him we will just buy it online to which he replies, “you can do that but you can’t return it to the store if there are any issues.” I call the warehouse who explains to me that they encourage buyers to return the merchandise directly to the store. Now I’m really jaded as even the store manager is giving me the wrong information.

I order the merchandise online and pay an extra $28.00 for two day air as our show was in four days. I would like to add that simply placing the order took two days because of an error on the warehouse side. So I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new equipment (no tracking number was provided even though they said they were sending it to my email address) and come the fourth day I have no equipment. I have a show that night and nothing to use. I call the warehouse who explained that they sent it out on Saturday. I ask for the tracking number which they give me but come to find out they sent it out UPS ground. Now I’m really upset and swear to myself I will never spend another dollar at Guitar Center.

I go to uptown music and had to spend two hundred dollars to rent the equipment for our show. Two days later my guitar center equipment arrives which I load up and take back to the store. The manager in pro audio returned the equipment, however, the only thing refunded to my card was the shipping. The manager tells me to give it a couple days and it should sort itself out. It’s been nine days and I had to call my bank to dispute the charges as it still hasn’t been credited back to me.

I have never in my entire life been so dissatisfied with a business. Guitar center is flawed from the ground up, from the sales person who ignores his customer, to the cashier that cant ring up a Pepsi, to the technician that cant properly fix a guitar (its still not right by the way) to the warehouse that can’t correctly ship an order, to the store manager who doesn’t even know the return policies. I promise you that neither myself nor the four other members of the band will ever spend another dime at Guitar Center. Further, and this will be the most damaging, I will be telling everyone in the band scene about my experience. I am going to encourage every last customer I can to spend their money anywhere else but Guitar Center.

Now for a story about how to treat a customer right.

I took my grievance to uptown and was telling the owner about what had happened. He told me that he could put together a kit similar to the one I bought at guitar center but he wouldn’t be able to give it to me at the same price, in fact it was a hundred and seventy dollars more. He told me he was sorry about the price difference but promised me that I would never have an experience like I did at guitar center, and to prove he valued my business , he refunded me the cost of renting the equipment for my show.

Now I realize that losing five customers isn’t going to shut down your store, and neither will word of mouth, but I promise that everyone I know will think twice about shopping in your store.

Keep well,

Brian Rosenberger

I would like both of these things MY MONEY REFUNDED and the "LEMON" PA Speaker that I purchased REPAIRED or REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW PA SPEAKER/HORN COMBO. Though I would really hate to see how long it would take for anyone to actually read this or fix the speaker probably what?..... another 4 months? I am so pleased of the fact that I have wasted time and money on this little endeavor.
From being on hold for hours and the people that take the calls I appreciate them very much but, after they help it doesn't seem like anything goes anywhere from there.
Thank you for making me lose interest in using guitar center all together as well as all the other business you lost because of this little scam. I personally will never shop at Guitar Center or Musicians Friend and neither will other fellow musicians in the Central PA area.
Thank you,
Your Ex loyal Guitar Center Customer

I would like to compliment the services provided by Bill Solley at the 8390 Westhemimer Road Houston, Texas Guitar Center store. I was traveling from Oregon-Houston-Oregon and purchased a guitar. when I arrived back in Oregon and checked my order, I realized that the order was incorrect. I phoned Bill and he got right to the heart of the matter. the order was corrected and the good news is the reorder will arrive three weeks earlier. Thanks Bill !!! --- JEE
